I fridge you so much

The Refrigerator.

Most would just take it as it is, but the way I see it, the machine is much more than meets the eye. It is a magnificent invention that has more potential aside from the obvious.

1. The fridge is a makeshift air-conditioner
Not everyone could afford to install an air-conditioner. I know I can't. But I do have a fridge, and at any moment where I am in want of an air-conditioning, I could just open the fridge and sit in front of the thing for a while.

2. The fridge is the safest place (probably)
If by any chance your town got attacked by an air-raid and there's just no bomb shelter nearby, run for the fridge. Did you watch Indiana Jones? He survived an explosion which destroyed an entire town by, you guessed it, hiding in a fridge.

3. And the fridge's best kept secret...
Think about it. The fridge allows you to bring to the future stuff that, without the presence of the fridge, would've never lasted that long. It's so obvious. The fridge is essentially a time-machine!

And that is just some of the things about the fridge that most people might have never even realized about.

Okay, so maybe I got a little over-excited about finally having a fridge to call my own. First fridge is the coolest, after all =)

How cats exploit humans

I read an article in the papers about the topic, but I think this picture just about sums it all.

He either can't read that, or he's just pretending he can't

I rest my case.

The Student Cafe

I've always been one for funky ideas, but even by funky standards, this one is crazy funky:

* * * *

Ever felt like you wanted to have a good place to study while at the same time eat even better food? Well now you have one

Enter the student cafe!

The concept of the cafe is a place where students can come to eat and also study.

How so?

The student cafe made for students who like to entertain their tastebuds as they study in mind. Should you require any assistance with your studies, feel free to seek guidance from any of our well educated waiter or waitresses.

The biggest draw for the cafe will be the offers it provides. The student cafe will provide incentives in the form of discounts for students who could do 'Today's Shopwork (TM)'.On Math Mondays, for instance, answer a set of questions correctly within the allotted time and get yourself a 50% discount on any of the selected delicacies*.

The questions will be given according to students' levels (i.e. Year 1, Form 3, Form 5, etc...) and is topical based. The topic will be told in the previous week so try to study before hand for a better chance to gain this wonderful offer. Those who had attempted's scores (time) will be written on a board in the cafe and any student who manages to beat that time will receive the same offer. Be at the top of the leaderboard for 5 consecutive weeks or a total of 10 times (whichever first), and you will be inducted in our hall of fame and also receive a voucher for a full-course dinner for three.

Our other offers for the time being also includes English Wednesdays and Science Sundays.

Is the Student Cafe for everyone?

The cafe is for everyone, but the offers are only available for students*. Of course, if you're just looking for good place to eat, you are more than welcomed to give our cafe a visit.

For further information please visit your local Student Cafe today!

Arrivederci~

*All Shopworks must be done in the cafe and under the watchful eyes of any of the waiter or waitress.
*Offer only applicable for students who are members of the cafe. An annual fee of RM15 is required

We are now hiring. Looking for talented individuals who are willing to become full or part-time waiter/waitress/tutor. Visit your local Student Cafe for a walk-in interview today.

So, just in case anything were to happen to me today (or some might say tomorrow morning), ie. sudden dissapearance, spirited away, etc etc.. I just wanted to let you know that I love you guys.

Lights

There isn't a lot to see in my current room really, because there isn't a whole lot of stuff to begin with. There's the queen size bed where I sleep, the couch where I'd sit to read the Quran, a pretty much useless stand fan and the table where I'm using the laptop to type this blog. There is however one thing that I always like to look at each day, and it only appears for a brief period of time. This....I guess I can only describe it as a ring of light, which actually has more than just a passing resemblance to the XBOX360 logo - the ring of light - though the logo evidently has more rings to it.
XBOX360 Ring of Light

Back to my ring of light, it appears between 5.15-5.30 everyday, if the weather is good, and is at its brightest in the middle of that time frame. It's actually the result of sunlight through the window and reflected on the metal bar of my bed projected on to the wall.

Not the most amazing thing in the world, but I think its neat enough to share.

Here In My Home

I came across this piece of art done by fellow Malaysian whom at the time, I knew only as bem69 at his DevianART page and it instantly clicked with me. It is a perfect summation of what being a Malaysian is (whether you think is good or bad, is totally up to you). We are a community of different colours, culture, beliefs, practices, (I could go on and on and on again about this so I think I'll just stop there) yet all of us stand under this one flag.

Oh.. one more thing. It turned out that dude bem69's real name is the same as mine. Talk about coincidence.

My sacrifice

Exactly a week ago, we celebrated what most people know in Malaysia as Hari Raya Korban (lit. Big Day of Sacrifice). My family celebrated it in our kampung in Baling, Kedah. They had a cow sacrificed there. The whole process of sacrificing the cow is done at the butchery (by the folks there, no less) but the rest of it, which involves separating the flesh from the bones, mincing the meat into fine think slices and cutting them bones are left to the family.

I wish I could post some photos of it, but they are potentially graphic and with me having low tolerance to massive volume of blood, I think I'll pass. Heck, I kept my distance from where they did all that stuff. I feel kind of bad about it now, but if i were to get close, I'd feel worse then .Weird is that I don't seem to have a problem if its my own blood though. Anyways, many know of this day, but there are equally as many who do not know how it originated.

The history of sacrifice dates back to the very beginnings of mankind, when the Adam's two sons offered their respective sacrifice to God. This however, isn't where the story starts. It began much later, during the era of the prophet Ibrahim (also referred as Abraham in some cultures). The prophet Ibrahim and his son, Ismail (Ishmel) were instructed by God to rebuild the Ka'aba - the structure to which present day Muslims face during their prayers - on the foundations where the first man, Adam had originally built it in ages past.

Upon the completion of the Ka'aba, Ibrahim saw a dream in which he slit the throat of his son as a sacrifice to God. Unsure of whether it was an order from God or merely a dream, he consulted his son Ismail (Ishmel), to which he responded : "My father, do what has been told by God, God willing, you will find me among the patients".

Just as Ibrahim wanted to sacrifice his son, God, most merciful that He is replaced Ismail with a kibas (a kind of sheep)*. This event serves as a testament that there is no cost to great for the cause of God and Ibrahim and his son Ismail has shown that their faith to God was so strong that they would surrender everything, be it their own life of the life of one they love for God.

We probably don't have it in us to go to the extent that they did, but sacrifice can come in many way. Going to the 'ulu' places, far from the confort of civilisation to teach could be a sacrifice as well, if you know what I mean...haha.

*note : just to clarify, the sacrifice (ie. the cow) isn't for God, rather, it is the act of sacrificing is what is dedicated to God, for He, most glorious that He is needs not from us.

I'm so sick

What is the proof of one's manliness. Is it by having manly, hulking musk? or is it having killer good looks? From what I can tell, you don't need either. Here's a guide on some of the things you can do to make your manliness really shine! Go ahead, read up. Its perfectly FREE*

The Manly Thing To Do #1

As every good man knows, there's nothing that can make you any more manlier than smoking. But wait, there really is! Simply smoking is for the losers. Real manly men smoke and throw the buds and ashes on the carpet, on the road, anywhere really, except for the ashtray. Of course, what better way to flaunt your manliness than to throw them in the kitchen sink and clog the thing up. Ah, the mark of a TRUE man! Remember this well, if you dispose cigarette buds properly, then you're a sissy.

The Manly Thing To Do #2
Real man knows how to turn even the most seemingly useless items into profit. Take a look at this useless looking rubbish bin. By keeping unwanted items inside without throwing them away for some time, a man can start his own maggot farm. Congratulations sir! You now have a property of your own. Before you know it, you'll be able to export those maggots to all corners of the world and fill your pockets with lotsa cash. And I bet the ladies would be all over you then. Genius! So you see, it isn't always about the brauns. A real man need to have the brains, as well as the ability to have the cash rolling in with minimal effort.

The Manly Thing To Do #3

Lets face it, a real manly man should never do the dishes. They leave that to their ladies. But what if you are still single you ask? Why, of course the reasonable thing to do would be to leave the dishes in the kitchen until you get married - at which point you can tell your wife to clean that thing you've left in the kitchen 3 years ago. That, or you could also donate those fungus you've grown for medicinal purposes. Now that's how a REAL man should be!

The Manly Thing To D0 #4

Unfortunately, the free trial ends here. Did you find the guide to be useful? Interested in knowing more? For additional methods on how to further strut your manliness, please consult the author. Your own suggestions would also be highly valued for the upcoming release of the book 'How To Be a Real Man'

*For promotional purposes only. You may not make illegal copies of this guide

ps: starting from now I'll link the song title which I base my titles on.

The Wheels of Fate

Yesterday was quite a day. I promised my special lady that I would meet her at KL Sentral for berbuka puasa at Subway. Of course, no one could anticipate what was going to happen next. On the way back from school, our car got punctured (by natural causes, I presume) and so we spend quite some time to get that tire changed. The spare tire, while not totally out of comission, wasn't fully functional either. It had too little air. A note to all you drivers out there. Always, always remember to check you spare tire often. You'll never know when you need it. So then, there was a need to stop at the gas station to fill some air. Oh, it was around this time that I realized I totally forgot about Asar prayer. Bummer...

With the tire problem out of the way, the driver (Ali G) left me somewhere close to Universiti Station cause I needed to get on an LRT to get to Sentral. I got on the thing right in the nick of time. If I had arrived at the station even a second later, then I would definitely have missed it. So I got to Sentral at about 6.40. Still some time left for me to perform my prayer. I saw Soya first and then headed to the surau. Lo and behold, my friend from my school days was standing there in front of me. I haven't met her for a few years and KL Sentral would probably the place which I least expected to see her. Wow, pleasant suprises are actually...well..pleasant.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make here is that how each sequence of event leads to another. If the tire didn't get punctured, if we hadn't need to fill in the spare tire with air, if I could't get on that LRT, and if I performed my prayer at school, I probably wouldn't have seen my friend there. Now I know why they call it the 'wheels of fate'.

Love & Truth

The world hasn't really been a safe place to live in lately with all the disasters happening all over the globe. We should remember that while we are living in the comfort of our houses, there are those unlucky souls out there who are currently seeking refuge in shelters, without having anything to eat. These people need help. The truth is, they are just waiting for someone, anyone, to lend them a hand and show them a little love. We need to show these folks some love, people. I just did - by donating some money. It wasn't really much, merely RM500. A small price to pay if that could make the lives of the unfortunate people in Sichuan, China better. Let it be known to the world, Najibu is such a generous person. I am proud to be me.

Authors note : The post is a big fat lie. I never did donate any money to anyone like I claimed in the above post, well...at least not intentionally. If you want to know the real story, look for the truth. Its somewhere above :)

Understand....

...carries a very heavy meaning. E.g : When someone says to you, "I don't like so & so" and you replied "I understand", do you think that you could really feel the same way as the person talking to you. I don't think so. Emotion is something that is unique to oneself and is not something that can be shared, or at least not on the same level. Therefore, if you ever thought that you really understood someone, you'd best think again.

ASK FOR MORE

After 1 month hiatus, Najibu is now back to write more seemingly unnecessary blog post. Also, with the coming of new year, I figure I should give the page it's much needed facelift. It might not be drastically different than the previous one but if you're looking for for a page with cloyingly cute decoratives or goth-like whatever, you've got the wrong page dude...cos I'm all for plainness. Is there even a real word??
I wanna dash through the little stuffs that I might have written about if I had the virtue to over the last 1 month :

IPBA....
has not changed much, for better or for worse.

SCUD....
needs abang Am to be around more - the other cook can't cook!

DIFFERENT GENDERS...
are equally good at gossiping.
encode and decode meaning differently and usually conflict ensues...

FRIENDS....
are those people who don't talk bad about you or your girlfriend behind your back.

THE PS3....
is finally showing some promise now that my xbox360 is broken

DEVIL MAY CRY 4....
conviced me that purple is the color.

p/s: Happy chinese new year to you, whoever you may be. I'm grateful for you reading this semi-rant post. Have a nice day

My December

Tis a season of engagements and marriages. Honestly, not a week will go by without at least 2 engagements or marriage ceremonies that I am obliged to attend. All those aside, December seems to be very very boring cos I'm mainly stuck at home. Ah...I wanna go out and play frisbee, go picnic somewhere, maybe hang out for some bubble tea, or invite some friends over to play games all day long. No, I can't have those, not any single one of those. Its so depressing...and boring. I kind of miss November now, however horrible and hectic that month was.

Field of Dreams

I had a strange dream last night. I was talking with an unknown guy in Japanese. I wasn't sure if that guy himself was Japanese but his Japanese was of native speaker quality. My Japanese was at my current level, which means I have to think before I can make out a sentence. In a way, it was practice through pushed output. When woke up and thought about it though, I noticed something really strange. The whole thing took place in my dream, which means its all in my head. Then, how was my brain able to generate perfect Japanese for the other guy when my Japanese was no better than it is in the real world. The only explanation I could think of is, in a dream could happen. :p
