we declare Your Perfection above and beyond all: we have no knowledge whatsoever except what You have taught us. No doubt it is You, and You alone that is all Knowledgeable and all Wise. (al-Baqarah, 32)

I need to get it off my chest

It's 7.35am. Left my 2 sons and daughter at their respective schools. Just clocked in at work. As I sat down, I feel unable to do anything. Yesterdays' news still making my stomach turn. There has been an increase in school related incidents in the last year but this one... This one hits close to home. I have been ruminating about the fragility of life quite a bit lately. Of the significance of life, or what I'm starting to feeling is the utter lack of it. Too easy can one's life be snuffed. Years of life and experience, gone in an instant. And we become just a memory. Spoken in past tense. Those left behind, carrying the pain and the loss but life... life goes on without us. In the workforce especially, the void left with the death of a worker is like the death of an ant. There are always other to replace the loss of one. Why am I even here? Where am I going after this life? Am I significant? When religion fails, 2 of those questions become impossible to answer and the last one can easily incline to a NO. I'm not sure how to end this entry. There are still words left unsaid but I'm afraid to say them. I guess I'll just stop. I want it to stop. I want it ALL to stop.
